How to Build a Website with Affiliate Marketing in Mind

Many people are jumping into the affiliate marketing bandwagon and yet don't know how to do it right. They just jump in, put in a few links and expect money to come flooding in - they're wrong. Lots of hard work needs to be done at first - yes, I know you don't want to hear that but I'll say it anyway - HARD WORK, and lots and lots of it.

If you're still reading this then maybe you're really interested so I'll share some of my techniques in affiliate marketing - primarily in building websites.

If you're really serious with affiliate marketing then you must have built a website just about for every type of affiliate product you want to sell. Yes, that's a lot of websites if you want to sell lots of products but you can only start with your first PROPERLY BUILT website.

To keep me organized, I make use of a sticky note stuck at the wall just in front of my computer - exactly where I can see it everytime I walk into my home office. Written in that sticky note is this:

A. Niche Research
  1. Find a product - Click here to find products to sell
  2. Research your keywords - I use WordTracker
  3. Check search competition - Type your keyword in Google and see how any pages it returns. The less pages, the better.
  4. Check advertiser competition - I use the free Adwords Keyword Tool
  5. Check commercial intent - I use MSN's Adlab
B. Content Research
  1. Look for articles - use article directories
  2. Look for video - use YouTube
  3. Look for blogs - use Technorati
C. Web dev't and SEO
  1. Register a domain
  2. Put up a website
  3. Build trustrank
  4. Build pagerank
Basically, that's my checklist and that's what I do each time I put up a new website for the purpose of selling affiliate products and I do make lots of money with it.
